Who I am
Oddity Quest is me, Harmony, an artist in Melbourne, Australia. I draw, print, cut and post everything myself. When this page says "I" or "me", it means Oddity Quest. You can reach me at hello@oddityquest.com.
What I collect
When you order, the checkout (run by Stripe) collects:
- your name, email and shipping address
- your phone number, if you give one
- what you bought, what it cost, and when
- your payment details, which Stripe handles and I never see
When you browse, the site keeps track of:
- what's in your bag, saved in your own browser so it's still there if you come back
- pages you visit and things you add to your bag, through Meta's pixel (more on that below)
- basic technical details like your IP address and browser type, which every website sees
When you email me, I keep the conversation so I can help you.
What I use it for
- Posting your order, and sending your receipt and any updates about it
- Answering your questions, and sorting out anything that goes wrong
- Keeping the records the tax office requires
- Working out which of my ads bring people to the shop, so I spend less on ads that don't
I don't sell or rent your information to anyone, and I don't add you to a mailing list.
Meta pixel and ads
I advertise on Instagram and Facebook. This site uses the Meta pixel and Meta's Conversions API so I can see which ads lead to people visiting and buying, and so Meta can show my ads to people likely to be interested.
When you visit, view your bag, start checkout or place an order, Meta receives:
- what happened (for example "added to bag" or "purchase"), the products and the order total
- your IP address and browser details, and Meta's own cookies (
_fbpand_fbc) - for orders only: your email, phone, name, suburb, state and postcode, hashed first. Hashing turns them into a scrambled code that Meta can match against its own accounts but can't read back.
Meta handles this information under its own privacy policy. To change how Meta uses it for ads, visit your ad preferences. Blocking third-party cookies or using a tracker blocker in your browser also stops the pixel. The shop works fine either way.
Cookies and browser storage
| Name | Set by | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
oq-cart-v1 | This site | Remembers your bag. Stays in your browser, cleared after you check out. |
_fbp, _fbc | Meta | Lets Meta connect a visit or order to an ad you saw or clicked. |
| Stripe cookies | Stripe | Keeps checkout secure and helps prevent fraud. |
Who else sees it
A few services help me run the shop, and each one only gets what it needs:
| Who | Why |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Takes payment and stores your order details |
| Australia Post | Delivers your order (gets your name and address) |
| Meta | Measures and shows ads, as described above |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the website and keeps it secure |
Stripe, Meta and Cloudflare may store information outside Australia, including in the United States. I'll also share information if the law requires it.
How long I keep it
Order records are kept for five years, because the Australian Taxation Office requires it. Emails are kept as long as they're useful for helping you, then deleted. Meta, Stripe and Cloudflare keep their copies under their own policies.
Your choices
You can ask me to show you what I hold about you, correct it, or delete it. The only exception is order records I'm required to keep for tax. Email hello@oddityquest.com and I'll reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can fix it. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Keeping it safe
Payments run through Stripe, and the site is served over a secure connection. I don't store card numbers anywhere. Only I can get into the shop's accounts.
Changes
If anything here changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
